Disc Herniation Pain

The resulting pain may be localized in the back or neck, or may extend to the extremities if the disc presses on a nerve root. In the lumbar spine it may cause sciatica, and in the cervical spine it may cause arm pain.

Diagnosis relies on clinical and neurological examination and MRI imaging which clearly shows the location and size of the herniation. Not every disc herniation seen on imaging needs treatment — correlating images with symptoms is essential.

We offer specialized interventional procedures such as nerve root injections and epidural injections that help reduce inflammation and pain around the compressed nerve. Most cases improve without surgery with appropriate treatment.
