Facet Joint Syndrome

Management usually begins with conservative options such as activity modification, physiotherapy, core strengthening, and appropriate medication. When pain persists, interventional options may be discussed, including facet joint injections and diagnostic medial branch blocks, followed by radiofrequency ablation of the medial branch when the source is confirmed. The suitable option is decided after individual assessment.

See a physician if back or neck pain lasts more than several weeks or keeps returning despite initial treatment. Urgent evaluation is needed with limb weakness, increasing numbness, loss of bladder or bowel control, fever, unexplained weight loss, or pain following a significant injury.

We assess the source of pain through clinical examination and review of imaging, and discuss the available conservative and interventional options. When indicated, we provide facet joint injections, diagnostic medial branch blocks, and radiofrequency ablation under image guidance, with a clear follow-up plan.
