Studies have shown that endometriosis occurs at a rate of 10-33% for women aged 25-35 years. Almost half of the girls who suffer from chronic pelvic pain suffer from endometriosis. The average age at which the disease is diagnosed is 27 years, but many women complain of symptoms of the disease for several years before the diagnosis is made.
In addition to surgery, the previously mentioned interventional pain management techniques can be used to treat chronic pain in the pelvic area.
